Terms of use

The ground rules for using this site.

Last updated October 6, 2026.

1. Who we are

police-scanner.net is operated by Police Scanner Network, an independent media organization based in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Using this site means you accept these terms.

2. Not an emergency service

In an emergency, call 911. Nothing on this site is an emergency service, an official agency communication, or a substitute for one. We are not affiliated with any police department, fire service, EMS provider or government body. Nothing submitted through this site reaches a dispatcher or any agency.

3. Accuracy

We verify what we publish against official sources and correct errors when we find them, but public safety information changes fast and early accounts are often incomplete. Content here is provided for general information. Do not rely on it for decisions about your safety — for those, follow official sources and instructions from responders.

4. Your use of the site

You agree not to use this site to break the law, harass or threaten anyone, attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of it, scrape or copy it at a scale that affects its operation, or submit information you know to be false.

5. What you send us

When you submit a tip, photo, video or message, you confirm you have the right to share it, and you grant us a non-exclusive licence to use it in our coverage with credit unless you ask otherwise. You keep ownership of your material. We are not obliged to publish anything, and we may decline or remove submissions at our discretion.

6. Our content

Text, graphics, logos and page designs on this site belong to Police Scanner Network unless marked otherwise. You may quote and link to our work with attribution. You may not republish substantial portions, or use our name or branding to suggest affiliation or endorsement, without written permission.

Third-party material — agency photos, clearinghouse flyers, outlet reporting — remains the property of whoever owns it and is used in the course of reporting.

7. Links out

We link to Facebook pages, agency sites and news outlets. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

8. Copyright claims

Takedown requests are handled through the process on our DMCA page.

9. Disclaimer and liability

This site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Police Scanner Network is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of it or reliance on anything published here.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. The date above changes when we do, and continuing to use the site means you accept the current version.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

12. Contact

admin@police-scanner.net

These terms are written in plain language as a reasonable starting point. They are not legal advice and have not been reviewed by a lawyer. Given that this network publishes crime reporting about named people, having counsel review these and the editorial policy is worth the cost.
