Privacy policy

What this site collects, who else can see it, and how to turn it off.

Last updated October 6, 2026. This policy covers police-scanner.net. It does not cover Facebook, YouTube or any other third-party platform where our pages appear — those are governed by their own policies.

What we collect

When you submit a form. The contact, tip, advertising and press forms collect what you type into them, plus your IP address, and send it to us by email. We use it to reply to you and nothing else. We do not sell it, rent it, or add you to a mailing list you did not ask for.

Automatically. Like every web server, ours logs the IP address, browser and page requested for each visit. These logs are used for security and troubleshooting.

We do not require an account, collect payment details on this site, or knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Cookies

This site uses a small number of cookies and similar storage:

  • Essential — remembers your cookie choice, and keeps an administrator signed in
  • Analytics — where enabled, Google Analytics measures which pages are read
  • Advertising — where enabled, Google AdSense and its partners may set cookies to serve and measure ads

You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time. Blocking them will not stop you reading anything on this site.

Advertising

Where advertising is enabled, this site uses Google AdSense. Third-party vendors including Google use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this and other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads based on your visits to this site and others. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info/choices. Google's own policy is at policies.google.com.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the consent banner on this site records your choice before any advertising or analytics cookie is set. Clearing your cookies will make the banner appear again.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to object to its processing. California residents have specific rights under the CCPA, including the right to know and the right to delete. We do not sell personal information.

To make a request, email admin@police-scanner.net. We will respond within the time your jurisdiction requires.

People named in our coverage

Our reporting draws on public records and official releases. If you are named in something we published and want it reviewed, corrected or removed, that is handled under our editorial and corrections policy rather than this page.

Retention and security

Form submissions sit in our email for as long as they are useful for the correspondence and are deleted after. Server logs rotate on the host's standard schedule. The site runs over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure and we do not claim otherwise.

Changes

If this policy changes materially the date at the top changes with it. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the updated version.
